When you are faced with may different golfing accessories, it can be easy to lose site of your goals and simply become overwhelmed by all of the different options. If you want to spend your money well and get golf accessories that will come in handy, you should follow some guidelines that I will lay out here. It will help you to step back and objectively look at what you are trying to do, and what your goals really are. Hopefully as a result you will save some money and end up making the best choice when it comes to choosing between two ore more golf accessories.

First you need to assess how useful the item can be. Will it actually make your game of golf more enjoyable or easier to handle, or is it more of a novelty that will soon wear off? If you arent buying an item for its utility, you will have to seriously think about why else you could want it. Are you hoping to impress your golfing buddies, or do you just feel the obsessive need to spend money on golf and its many accessories? Items like golf club bags will always be useful since they help to keep your other big investments save and organized for you. However, the same cant be said for other golf accessories. Some are just a waste of money that reel you in because of how neat they are.

One day when you go to the golf course, imagine that you have the accessory with you. Every time you would use it throughout the day, make a mark on a piece of paper. You may be surprised to find that there are absolutely no marks at the end of the day. However, if there are a few marks and you honestly believe that you would be better off with the accessory, then you should start comparing brands and features. You should definitely go for the bargain price, but never at the sacrifice of major features that you would want to have.

If you think there is a way that you could get cheaper golf accessories, then you should certainly take advantage of this. You might be able to find the same exact accessory for half as much. If you have golfing buddies who tend to go through accessories at a high turnover rate, you should ask them if they have anything that they would be willing to part with for a fair price. You might luck out and get it for free. Even if you just get it for a discounted rate, it is still better than paying full price. Golf accessories can put a huge hole in your wallet if youre not careful, so its good to take advantage of these opportunities when they arise.

Instead of just going for the most expensive accessory whenever you see something that strikes your interest, you should take a more cool and calculated approach to the purchase. Do everything that I have mentioned so far in order to make sure that you really want and need the item, and then do what you can to get the best deal possible on the golf accessory. You will save plenty of money in the long run for it to be worth the effort.

Theres probably no better place in the world to conduct business than on the golf course. Business executive all over the world know that sharing a common frustration with their golf game promotes the perfect environment for business talk. More partnerships and businesses have been changed on the golf course than you could ever imagine.

When you are conducting business on the golf course, you have the luxury of sharing a common goal to beat each other. Yet at the same time, when you are playing with business associates on the golf course, you really need to practice some decorum when playing golf with a potential business affiliate.

So how do you balance business with sport on the golf course? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Just as with any decision in business, you have to weigh the outcome with what is happening. If you are trying to land a big account, you probably wont want to make fun of your potential clients missed chip shot.

However, you wont want to gain a reputation as a suck-up either. If your potential client makes a 7 on a par 3 hole, you really dont want to whoop and holler because it will be obvious you are just trying to stroke his (or her) ego. Conducting business on the golf course is a delicate proposition, so start with a plan in mind.

DO NOT and we stress this a lot DO NOT begin your golf match with a declaration of what you hope to accomplish by the end of the round. If you want to insure that you will be landing that big account, dont put on your golf glove on tee #1 and declare your intention. The idea behind conducting business on the golf course is to make friends first and then do your business.

As you are playing, keep in mind that you will want to bring your A game as much as is humanly possible. Sure, you might be playing against a person who is head and shoulders above you, but if you are the better player, DONT let them win just because you want to gain their business. Play golf like you mean it and gain that prospects respect.

There is much business that is done on the golf course every day of every week. You wont find a better place to make a business deal than on the links. However, you will want to use some form of decorum to insure that your business goals will come to reality. Taking business on the golf course could be the best business decision you ever make!

Of all the various sports practiced in the world today, golf has got to be one of the most often played by amateurs and professionals alike. It is one of those sports that can be played with little skill by people of all ages young and old alike. Recognizing that golf is one of the major sports in the world has been a great advancement for people who love this game.

Most people think of traditional sports as one on one or team competitions. While golf is often played with other people, the real competitors in the game of golf are you against the golf course. Sure, you can try to score better than your opponents, but really what you are doing is trying to take into consideration things like sand traps, water hazards, and distance so you can make it from tee box to hole with as few strokes as possible.

While golf isnt a very intensive sports activity, it does provide for good exercise especially if you walk the course instead of taking a cart. Youre not going to get a good cardio workout, but you certainly will benefit from a good stroll across the links. Plus, the swinging motion will work your back muscles as well as your arm muscles.

Golf is one of the most competitive sports both professionally as well as for amateurs. The lighthearted bantering you can hear on the golf course during a tournament is quite interesting. Many side bets occur on tee boxes and before a match begins. Theres quite a lot of ways you can try to best your opponents and make a little money on the side as well!

You can also find competitive golf in schools as part of their sports programs. These days, its not uncommon to find a golf team at the middle school level, and high school and college golf teams have been part of sports programs for years. This is great as it introduces golf to kids at younger ages and they are more likely to continue that interest into their adult years.

Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world with fans spanning all age groups coming from all walks of life. Participating in golf as part of a sports regimen provides for much enjoyment, some stress, and a lot of great experiences. If youve never tried golf as one of the sports you participate in, you really should. Gain the benefits of this traditional game and see all of the amazing things you have in store!

In golf, a skins game has players competing for prize money on each individual hole. There is an annual skins game for male professional golfers that takes place near the end of the year after the end of the official PGA Tour season. It is recognized by the PGA Tour, but it does not count towards the official money list. It is currently played at La Quinta Golf Course in La Quinta, California.

The Skins Game differs from most PGA tour golf tournaments for several reasons. First, only four golfers are invited to the tournament and the golfers play to win individual holes or skins in a match play format.

Each hole is assigned a different monetary value and the golfer who has the lowest score on the hole wins the money for that hole. In the event that two or more golfers tie (which is called halving) on a hole, the skin money carries over to the next hole. If two or more golfers would happen to halve the final hole, a playoff begins until one golfer wins the hole outright.

The Skins Game has a long tradition for being highly competitive, but also very fun both to play and to watch. In 2001, the player winning a hole outright had to tie or win the next hole to collect his skins from the previous hole. This was very tough to do. Greg Norman was the only golfer that could back up his win on the previous hole. He won the 17th and tied for low on the 18th to collect $800,000 which was the largest skin ever collected for one hole. He would go on to win $200,000 in a playoff to win the entire $1 million dollar prize money.

In the 2004 Skins Game, the first six holes were worth $25,000 a piece. Holes 7 through 12 were worth $50,000 each. 13 through 17 were valued at $70,000 a pop, and the 18th hole known as the Super Skin carried a value of $200,000.

Fred Couples is given the nickname of Mr. Skins because of his dominance in the Skins Game. He has won $3,515,000 and 77 skins in 11 appearances. He has won five of the Skins Games overall.

You can conduct your own skins game when playing golf. Of course, your holes wont be valued quite as high as the pros are, but you can sure have a blast as you compete to see who can become your own clubs Mr or Ms Skins.

There may be a lot of things that Las Vegas is famous for, but golf isnt the first thing that comes to mind. However, golf in Las Vegas is becoming a sport for the well-to-do and the common man alike.
Twenty-nine years ago, locals and visitors played at The Tropicana Golf Course, which has been replaced by the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The Dunes course, since replaced by Bellagio and Monte Carlo Hotels, Desert Inn Country Club, is still there, though it will be gone soon. The Municipal Golf Course, Las Vegas Country Club, Craig Road, Sahara Country Club, Winter Wood, two courses at Nellis and Paradise Country Club, are all still there, though the names may have changed. They were pretty much the only courses in the valley.
Today, there are 57 golf courses in and around Las Vegas. They’re not all up and running yet as that number includes under construction and on the planning board. Also, the number includes courses within a two hour drive of Las Vegas, Mesquite, Primm, Laughlin and Pahrump.
Even so, that’s a lot of golf courses for a city of less than one and a half million. Of course, thirty-six million plus tourists a year add to the profitability of opening one. Greens fees for Las Vegas golf can be quite steep for the common man and many locals have given up local golf for just that reason.
Las Vegas golf courses were designed by the pros who also played them in tournaments every year. Palmer, Nicklaus, Chi Chi Rodriques, Johnny Miller and Fuzzy Zoeller have all designed courses there. All of the major pro tours, PGA, LPGA and the SPGA have annual tourneys here. They started to play Las Vegas in 1953.
Golf is a year-round sport in Las Vegas. Even on those forty days a year that there’s some rain, you still might get 18 holes in. There are only about 5 days a year when you can’t play. In the spring there may be a few days of high winds that postpone your game. On cold days in the winter, you tee off at noon. On hot days from June to September, try to get a tee time from 6-9 am, to be off the course in the afternoon. Call very early for a tee time.
You will have a lot of options when you choose to golf in Las Vegas. But the best part about a Las Vegas golf trip? You can always try out the blackjack tables if your golf game stinks.

Weather certainly plays a huge role in a good golf game. Obviously, if it is raining, you arent going to be able to golf as easily as if the sun was shining. While summer golf provides great weather conditions, you also wont want to be on the course when its 110 degrees in the shade (which makes it hotter on the fairway!)

Monitoring the weather is something avid golfers do faithfully. Ideal golf weather is about 70 degrees with clear skies and a soft breeze. Sometimes youll get this kind of golf weather and enjoy it when you do. But you can golf in other weather as well.

I know one golfer who is so obsessed with the game; he played on Christmas and New Years Day. Of course, it was unseasonably warm that winter, but it was still cold enough to keep normal people off the links. Most people wont go to that extreme, but there are many who do, believe it or not!

What do you need to know about playing golf in certain weather conditions? The answer is more than you know! Different weather conditions should be approached differently when it comes to your golf game.

If you are playing golf in cold weather, you need to remember to take extra time to warm up and stretch. You are more prone to injury in cold weather, so take the time to stretch out. Wear layers of clothing with cold weather golf. You will also want to keep your head and hands covered as those are the two places where we lose our heat the quickest.

In extremely hot weather, your approach to the golf game should also be tended to. Most golf clubs have dress codes that you will have to adhere to and tank tops are usually not on that list. Wear clothing that is made of lightweight, breathable fabric. Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen and a hat to protect your eyes. Have plenty of water on hand and take time to rest in the shade of a tree.

Under no circumstances should you play golf in weather where it is thundering and lightning. More people are struck by lightning on the golf course than in any other place. Its alright to play in a light rain although it probably wont be much fun but if you heard the thunder roll or see light in the sky, vacate the course immediately.

While the weather can have an affect on your golf game, you can still play when you want to as long as you take proper precautions.

If you love golf, a golf vacation might be something that you like to do on a regular basis. For the avid golfer, the thought of going on vacation where you do nothing but golf is the idea of heaven. Here are a few things to consider before you take your next golf vacation.

First, its always good to go on vacation with people who share your love of golf. Most often a golf vacation turns into a buddy trip, but theres really nothing wrong with that. But make sure that you pick a destination that everyone can agree on. Take a vote if you must, but be sure everyone wants to go to the same place and that everyone can afford it.

You will also want to take into consideration everyones playing abilities when you plan a golf vacation. Someone with a 3 handicap will enjoy a challenging course while a person with a 13 handicap will likely just get frustrated and mad on the same course.

As a general rule when planning a golf vacation, you should consider the courses first and the accommodations next. Resorts, especially those with quality golf courses, are expensive. But all in all, if golf is a main purpose or highlight of your trip, decide where you want to play first, and then decide on accommodations. You can take a golf vacation where you stay at a hotel to gain access to a course and then move to a less expensive hotel later. It’s an inconvenience to have to repack and move during the trip, but can be well worth it in order to play top courses while not spending the entire vacation at posh resort prices.

Even if you are staying at a resort hotel which gives you access to its courses, find out how far ahead of your arrival date you can book tee times. All courses have specific rules for when they will make tee times, which you should take note of and follow carefully.
Some courses even have specific times you must call to reserve your time (e.g., between 7 and 9 a.m. on the Thursday eight days before the weekend you wish to play), though most guidelines are usually more general (e.g., a week before you wish to play or up to sixty days ahead).
You should book as far as ahead as possible, especially for high demand courses. Even as a resort guest, if the course is popular, you may be out of luck if you wait until a few days before arrival or check-in time to get a tee time
Once youve embarked on your golf vacation and are ready to play the courses youve chosen, dont just jump right in with the excitement that we know you feel. You must take time to get a feel for the course and stretch properly. Arrive at the course well before your tee time to avoid feeling rushed and look around. Check out the scorecard to see the layout of the course and perhaps talk to the course pro to see if he or she has any advice for you.

A golf vacation is a great way for the golfer to enjoy some of the best courses our country has to offer. So plan carefully and then get out there and have some fun.

When you are playing the great game of golf, your golf scores become both your best friends as well as your worst enemies. Many players live by their golf scores and judge their progress according to what the score card says. While you might think that your golf scores are the best gauge of how you are coming along as a golfer, that isnt necessarily the case.

The way golf scores are tallied can mean so many things. Just because you shoot an 8 on a par 4 doesnt necessarily mean you are a bad golfer. It might mean that you had a bad drive and a mis-aimed chip but it doesnt make you a bad golfer. So dont put too much stock into what the scorecard says. Judge your golf game by how you play rather than what your scores are.

Golf scores are only meant to help you keep track of the strokes you take to get from tee box to the hole. They dont ever take into consideration things like hazards, weather conditions, or anxiety. Sure, you cant keep track of how you are doing without paying attention to your golf scores, but you still need to keep in mind that there are a million variables that can make your score fluctuate.

Of course, if youre a golfer, you know all the terminology birdie, eagle, bogey, double eagle (if youre really lucky) but the real story in golf scores lies in how you played the course and navigated the hole. Instead of keeping track of scores, why dont you keep track of where you were for a particular shot and how that shot came out?

Lets say, you make a horrible drive on a par 4 and only end up 100 yards off the tee box. Lets hope its past the womens tee if you know what I mean! So now you are faced with a long fairway shot. You pick up your favorite club and smack a beautiful flyer right on the green. Whos going to say that wasnt a good golf shot? You end up with a par on the hole, but your score doesnt really reflect that amazing shot now does it?

The point is, dont put too much emphasis on the amount of strokes on your scorecard. Think about your golf score as a reflection of the amazing shots youve made as well as the flubbers youve had to live through as well. Then you can find out what kind of a golfer you are and not have to live by the golf score alone.

Most golf club offer memberships to players making them part of the club. Having a membership in a golf club can be very advantageous both monetarily as well as socially!

A golf membership will give you access to certain things non-members wont have. Your greens fees may be reduced or, more often, included in the membership. That means you can play as much as you want and not have to pay greens fees. Most golf memberships dont include the use of a cart, so youll probably pay extra for that.

Having access to programs with your golf membership is another great perk. That might mean reduced fees for league play, free entry into tournaments, and access to the clubs facilities for other events like meetings, dinners, and more.

There are a lot of golf courses that wont let you play unless you have membership with them. These are called private clubs and allow members and their guests only to play. That means without a golf membership to that club, you have to know someone who is a member in order to get on the course.

Even small, public courses offer golf memberships. This is a great way for them to generate more play as well as make some guaranteed money. They will offer up some of the other advantages that private clubs do in the form of free or reduced greens fees, etc.

Sometimes, golf memberships can be quite steep. For example, one of this authors local golf clubs sets membership fees at $700 per year for a single membership. The course is run by a Senior PGA pro and it is a beautiful place to play. When you consider the amount of golfing we do, we have paid for our membership in just a few weeks just by saving on greens fees since we dont pay to play as a member of the club.

When we speak of a golf membership, we can also refer to membership in a golfing organization. You have to be a pro to join the PGA, but amateurs can join amateur organizations. Most areas have regional golf organizations where you can buy a membership to become part of them. These associations often hold sanctioned tournaments and can really help get your name known at least locally as a good golfer.

If youre an avid golfer, you really should consider buying a membership in your local golf club. It can be a very good move and can save you tons and tons of money while allowing you to enjoy the game you love!
